Make Michigan More Affordable
Stop Spending More Than Our Families Can Afford
The cost of groceries, housing and utilities are out of control and politicians have made it worse. Michigan families are cutting their spending to live within their means - why can’t Lansing do the same? As long as the government keeps expanding and spending your money on wasteful programs and projects, the cost of living will continue to increase. Michigan families deserve competent decision-makers to craft a responsible state budget that doesn’t drain your bank account.
Stop Adding to Our Families' Bills
Michiganders aren’t looking for a hand-out. They are looking for a hand-up and a fair playing field so that the hard work they put in pays off. We give too much tax money to corporations that don’t need it and take too much from families to fund projects and programs that will never benefit them. We need to stop picking winners and losers in this state. Tax relief is needed across the board, and everyone needs to pay their fair share. Government should not take more than it absolutely needs because money is best spent by the people who work hard to earn it, not by Big Government programs.
Fix Our Broken Education System
Get Back to the Basics on Curriculum
We need to fix our broken education system - our public schools are currently 41st in the country. Education is the key that unlocks opportunity and success, and our kids deserve the best education to give them a head start on life. Government should not be using a child’s education to advance a political agenda. Instead of pushing political agendas, we need to prioritize real educational outcomes, ensuring our kids can read and perform basic math proficiently. I will work to get our students the extra help and support they need, such as reading scholarships.
Restore Parental Voice in Education
We must focus on empowering students through a partnership between parents, educators, and our community. Quality education begins with the freedom of choice, allowing parents to select the best educational path for their children. Every child is unique. You should be in control of your kids’ education, not liberal elites. I will always support families’ freedom and the right of every parent to make the best decisions for their child.
Build Safer Communities
Support Law Enforcement
Security and stability are crucial to our Michigan way of life. You deserve to be safe in your home, your family deserves to be safe in your neighborhood and your kids deserve to be safe in school. I support law enforcement, and enforcing the law. Our departments in Northville, Plymouth and Livonia are exceptional and put their lives on the line for us every day that they put on their uniform. They have our back, and I will have theirs as your next State Representative.
Enforce Immigration Policy
Strong borders and enforcement of immigration law is essential to a secure state and country. I oppose sanctuary counties and cities in Michigan, and I will always support our police and other public safety officials. Immigration has helped make our country great since its very foundation, but everyone should have to play by the rules. People coming into our country and state illegally are breaking the rules. That isn’t fair to the people who have been waiting in line.
Level the Playing Field
Support Small Businesses
I grew up in a small business where I learned the value of hard work, attention to detail, and fiscal responsibility. Small businesses must be protected because they are vital to our economy.
These days the government makes it too hard, too complicated and too unfair. It seems like the only businesses who “get ahead” are the powerful mega-corporations who started out ahead. We need to change this. We need to knock down barriers, cut red tape and make government work for people, not the other way around.
End Corporate Welfare
Government should not be picking winners and losers with taxpayer dollars. It’s that simple. If Michigan’s workers have to pay their taxes, big companies shouldn’t get special tax deals. You don’t create a culture of success for every Michigan family by handing out billions to a connected few who know how to work the system. Corporate welfare doesn’t work and it doesn’t make sense. It’s not right and it’s not OK.
